PCR HPV 6/11 Detection Kit
Background Information
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of more than 70 viruses, often spread through sexual contact. HPV types are divided into high-risk and low-risk groups.
- High-risk HPVs (like types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35) can cause cervical cancer and other serious conditions.
- Low-risk HPVs, such as type 6 and 11, are not linked to cancer but are commonly found in genital warts.
While high-risk HPV types cause around 80% of cervical cancer cases, HPV 6 and 11 are mainly linked to benign (non-cancerous) infections.
Because HPV can't be grown in labs, it is best detected using molecular methods like real-time PCR, which can find the virus's DNA directly in samples.
Product Description:
The PCR HPV Low Risk (6/11) Detection Kit is a ready to use test for detecting HPV type 6 and 11 DNA using real-time PCR (TaqMan technology).
This kit is for research use only and is not for medical diagnosis. It helps researchers quickly and accurately detect low-risk HPV infections linked to genital warts.
