Olive Oil DNA Kit
Product Overview:
The Olive Oil DNA Isolation Kit is designed for the rapid preparation of genomic DNA from olive oil to support genetic traceability and authenticity testing. This enables reliable verification of olive oil identity and helps detect adulteration. The kit can also be applied to other processed oils, including canola oil, sunflower oil, and vegetable oil, for downstream analysis and food quality control.
Genomic DNA is efficiently extracted from as little as 0.5 mL of oil using a combination of heat treatment, homogenization, and lysis buffer chemistry. PCR inhibitors are effectively removed during purification, ensuring that the isolated DNA is compatible with sensitive downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR, and microarray analysis. Preparation of up to 10 samples can be completed in under 30 minutes, and each kit contains sufficient materials for 50 isolations.
Purification Technology:
DNA purification is based on spin column chromatography, which selectively binds nucleic acids while removing proteins, lipids, and other contaminants. The workflow includes:
- Adding lysis buffer to 0.5 mL oil sample
- Homogenization and incubation at 65 °C for 10 minutes
- Centrifugation and recovery of supernatant
- Addition of ethanol and binding buffer, followed by spin column loading
- Washing to remove inhibitors and contaminants
- Elution of high-quality DNA ready for downstream use
